Geophysical surveys revealed buried remains of part of a large enclosure type settlement. The principal feature took the form of an arc of a substantial curvilinear ditch suggesting that these were the remains of a typical enclosed settlement of the Early Medieval period, probably a rath or ringfort.  Remaining geophysical anomalies identified in the survey as potentially archaeological, were suggested as a curvilinear ditch, possible field system and pits/ditches.

Archaeological excavation of the site identified settlement here from the early Bronze Age to the early 13^th century.  The bronze age archaeology consisted of an urn burial and cist burial.

The Early medieval period a series of enclosures including a large Bi-vallate Rath with a substantial outer ditch.  A small cemetery was then inserted within the interior of one of these enclosures. In total 60 individuals were excavated.  Finally, a souterrain was identified cutting through one of the enclosures.
